Brickell’s Midnight Aether” is a photograph that holds a special place in my heart. It captures a transcendent moment in the interstice between day and night, right on the cusp of midnight’s embrace. This was a scene I witnessed many times while riding my bike at night through Downtown Miami in past years. The towering buildings, usually pulsating with urban life, are stilled in this luminous tableau, their radiant outlines casting ethereal reflections onto the placid waters. It’s as if they are suspended between realms, blurring the line between the material and the mystic.

The boats at the marina, silently anchored, seem like they’re waiting for a journey not just across waters, but through time and dimensions. In this almost surreal interlude, the bustling heart of Miami transforms into a liminal space, charged with mystery and spiritual resonance.

Recently, I sold my bike to be able to drive around with my camera and tripod. Walking around and seeing the beauty of downtown Miami at night is a different experience. The boats passing by, planes flying across leaving their lighting footprint, create beautiful reflections on the water. Capturing this photograph allowed me to delve into and share the deeper realms of consciousness, guided by the city’s enigmatic nocturnal glow. This image invites the observer not just to view, but to introspect, to explore the mystique of Miami’s night, as I have come to know and love it.
